One of our staple garments, the Cocoon Cardigan holds a cherished place in our Birdy Collection. A super chunky, hand-knitted bomber-style jacket, it’s designed for warmth, texture, and timeless appeal.

Finishing just below the waistline, it features a detailed cable design to the front, a ribbed hem, and a plain back for balance. The billowing 3/4 sleeves and rounded neckline add softness to its structured silhouette — an extra-special key piece in any wardrobe.

As each cardigan is handmade, we aim to keep them in stock and ready to ship, though short delays may occasionally occur while your knit is being crafted.

Care

Made form sustainable, considered yarn to reduce the impact on the environment.

Natural renewable and biodegradable and 100% wool, sustainably sourced in Peru.

Pilling or blobbing is an inherent characteristic of all-natural fibres. Refresh your woollen garments with a pilling comb, remove any bobbles or fuzz as it forms.

Hand wash only in cold water. Use a delicates hand wash detergent / Pulsate gently, do not rub, giving your knits a gentle squeeze. Once done, roll in a clean towel to remove excess water and then dry flat.

Designed and constructed in England, Pilgrimage is the new collection from The Make Shed

Pilgrimage is a collection inspired by my love of walking — by the simple act of putting one foot in front of the other and giving yourself a little space to think.

It’s about slowing down, getting back to basics and finding a bit of peace and perspective along the way. We’ve used beautiful natural fabrics, British wool, textured yarns and our own hand-designed linen/wool mix, with pieces designed to be lived in, layered and worn for years.

There’s something quite grounding about making clothes slowly and thoughtfully, and that’s very much at the heart of this collection.
